Bashitha’s remarkable journey started with mushroom cultivation because of her younger son’s illness. The doctor suggested mushrooms as a great medicine for his healthy life. Then she started mushroom cultivation and it has turned out to be the main income of her family now. Her journey in mushroom cultivation started when she received financial assistance, technical knowledge and mental support. She also got skill training and availed a bank loan of Rs. 5 lakhs through Kudumbashree and also got subsidy from Kudumbashree. Now they started in a new spawn production unit and set up a spawn production lab in her unit. She has also trained other people in the same field. Nowadays, she earns a monthly income of Rs. 25,000 and she could be considered as one of the best examples of women’s empowerment and the changes it is capable of bringing to one’s life.
