Lakhpati Didi Journey
Sushma Chettri, residing in Bhurung village under Duga Block of Sikkim, embarked on her entrepreneurial journey by joining the Blue Sky Self-Help Group. Motivated to improve her family’s financial situation, She utilized microloans provided by Self Help Group to establish a dairy farming business. These loans were crucial in helping her purchase cattle, build a shed and secure necessary supplies. Her dedication and hard work paid off as she successfully expanded her dairy operations, now producing and selling 160 liters of milk daily, significantly enhancing her family’s income and earning around 12,000 per month.
There is a continuous need for training in advanced dairy farming techniques and better access to information on animal health and nutrition.
Sushma Chettri’s dairy business has profoundly impacted her community, improving the nutritional status of local families and inspiring other women to embark on their entrepreneurial ventures. Her story underscores the critical role of microfinance and women’s economic empowerment in fostering sustainable community development.
