Kumud Bhengra, a resident of Tirla Panchayat in Khunti’s Sadar block, relied on her husband for financial support. Despite having completed her intermediate education, Kumud’s aspirations were dampened by a lack of information and opportunities.
Joining the Self help Group, recognized her diligence and dedication, entrusting her with financial responsibilities within the group. Kumud’s proactive approach and hard work soon led to her selection as a Bank Sakhi, a pivotal role in providing financial information and assistance to rural women and groups. Through her role as a Bank Sakhi and engagement in other livelihood activities, her monthly income soared to approximately Rs. 15,000. This significant increase in income not only empowered Kumud to contribute to her family’s financial stability but also enabled her to invest in her children’s education, fulfilling her aspirations of providing them with better opportunities. She not only transformed her own life but also became a beacon of hope and assistance for rural women in her community. Providing financial guidance to others, truly embodying the spirit of empowerment and self-reliance.
