Shabnam Nisha, a member of the Anmol Self-Help Group in Chidauriya village Vidisha District, has changed her family’s fortunes through her determination and hard work. She joined the Self-Help Group and began sewing masks and school uniforms, which provided her with an initial income and the opportunity to teach sewing skills to other women in the village Shabnam expanded her skills by training at the State Bank of India Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (RSETI) in Vidisha, where she learned beauty parlour services. She now earns around Rs. 10,000 per month from this business. Additionally, she works as a financial literacy and social audit officer under MGNREGA, contributing another Rs. 3,500 monthly to her household income. When her husband lost his job during the pandemic, She took a loan from her Self-Help Group to support him in starting a garage. His motorbike repair shop now brings in around Rs. 12,000 monthly, which, along with Shabnam’s income, has stabilized their family finances. She and her husband have achieved a sense of financial security.
