Lakhpati Didi Journey :
Anita Goswami, a dedicated resident of Enabad village in Dewas district, has emerged as a model of determination and self-reliance through her successful vermi-compost unit. Before joining the Jai Gurudev Aajeevika Self-Help Group, Anita’s life was confined to household chores and assisting her husband with farming.
Anita’s life transformed when she decided to join the Self Help Group under the Aajeevika Mission. Initially, Her first loan of Rs. 20,000 was used for pea cultivation, which yielded a profit of Rs. 30,000 from 1 bigha of land. Encouraged by her success, Anita took a second loan of Rs. 60,000 to set up a vermicompost unit with 20 bags, initiating the production of organic compost. This venture not only benefited her farm but also supported sustainable farming practices in nearby villages.
With the guidance of the Aajeevika Mission, she expanded her vermin-compost unit, producing 40 quintals of compost every three months. Anita sells this compost at Rs. 800 per quintal to neighbouring farmers while also using it on her own fields, promoting organic farming in her community.
As a certified A-HELP, Anita assists with livestock health in her village and earns a stipend of Rs.16,000 monthly from this role.
The sale of vermin-compost contributes an additional Rs. 30,000 to 35,000 annually, bringing her total monthly income from all sources to Rs. 29,000-30,000.
Anita Goswami’s story is a powerful example of how determination, coupled with the right opportunities and support, can transform lives. Her success through the Aajeevika Mission serves as an inspiration for many others in her village.
