Geeta Devi belongs to Keru village of Jodhpur district in Rajasthan. She along with her other Self Help Group members have been manufacturing bajra cookies for the last one year. These cookies are not just delicious but also carry the benefits of nutrition.
Before joining Rajeevika, she was not allowed to leave her home and work. She was only confined to the four walls of the house and asked to do household work and look after the family and children. But then she joined Rajeevika and became a part of the group along with eleven other women. Through the support of Rajeevika, she attended skill enhancement training. She attended training like bakery, papad and pickle making, etc. After getting training, she had an interest in a bakery. She thought of making bajra cookies along with the other women. With the help of credit-linkage through Rajeevika, a biscuit manufacturing machinery was set up and she and her fellow women started manufacturing biscuits. She also started attending melas and exhibitions to sell her biscuits, which provided her with a market. Her biscuits became popular among the melas. Through the melas, she started receiving orders from different places and therefore, started attending more melas. She also received appreciation from the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, recently in the Mahila Samanta Diwas for her bajra cookies which has made her cookies more popular.
