Smt. Kedari Rana joined the Rana Apple Garden Self Help Group under the National Rural Livelihood Mission. The mission’s support has been crucial in transforming her journey and enabling her to become a successful Lakhpati Didi.
Before joining the group, Mrs. Rana faced significant challenges and lacked confidence in her speaking abilities. After joining the group, Mrs. Rana experienced a remarkable transformation. Her speaking ability improved significantly, and she gained valuable knowledge and information through group activities. She took a loan from her group, including Rs. 50,000 from the revolving fund (RF) and Rs. 50,000 from the community investment fund (CIF). With this amount, she established an apple orchard, planting approximately 1,200 trees of the Sparsh variety. The orchard now yields at least 300 boxes of apples annually, generating an income of around three lakhs per year. Additionally, by insuring the apple crops, she benefits even during off-seasons. She has actively contributed to the formation of 30 new self-help groups, empowering other women to achieve financial independence. Her role as a Community Resource Person (CRP) has allowed her to share her knowledge and experiences, fostering a supportive environment for women in her village.
