Before joining the Self Help Group, she and her family faced significant financial hardships, relying heavily on agriculture. The income was insufficient to meet their daily needs, leading to a challenging and uncertain lifestyle. Manisha learned about the benefits of joining a group and decided to become a member.
Recognizing her potential, Manisha was selected as a Krishi Sakhi under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM). In this role, she earned Rs. 1,500 per month and conducted regular meetings in her village. She provided guidance and support to other members on agricultural activities, such as kitchen gardening and organic farming.
Manisha took another loan of Rs. 1,20,000 (Bank loan) from her Group to start Annapurna Rasoi. Despite facing the challenge of not receiving payment for the first three months, her unwavering determination and resilience kept her going. Today, she successfully operates the Rasoi, employing five women and making a profit of Rs.10,000 to Rs.12,000 each month.
She not only improved her own life but also empowered other women in her community. Her story is an inspiring example of how financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and community support can lead to significant social and economic change.
