Rekha Vijayan was a member of below average family in Manjukulam Area Development Society under Kanjirappally Community Development Society (CDS). She joined a Self Help Group. She started a normal bag making unit near her house. She has got General Orientation Training and Entrepreneurship Development programme from Kudumbashree. She registered these micro enterprises in Kudumbashree CDS . She got handholding support from Micro Enterprise Consultant (MEC) and the Kudumbashree system. Kudumbashree provided her Rs. 1,30,000 as technology fund and Rs. 50,000 as Community Enterprises Fund. Now Rekha’s bag making unit has become a modern bag making unit. She has been giving employment to 5 other Self Help Group members. Now this unit makes different types of bags, like bags for school-going students, ladies bags, fancy bags etc. She participates in district wise fairs for selling her products. She sells her different products to shops, supermarkets, different fairs etc. She is earning Rs. 3 lakh as annual income.
