Lakhpati Didi Journey
Sabitri Murmu belongs to Murar village of Jhargram district of West Bengal. She joined Chando Ipil Mahila Dal Self Help Group in her village. After joining Self Help Group, she takes loan from Self Help Group when required to invest in livelihood. She also received training and is practising organic agriculture and Banana cultivation. She is now cultivating Banana, Vegetables and Fruits for Indian Major Carps and is selling them. She is also a member of the Producer group and sells their produce in the bigger market also. She became technically sound in regenerative farming-agriculture and involved in multiple activities to get a better life for her family.
From all of these activities, she is earning around Rs. 15,000/- per month. She expresses her gratitude to West Bengal State Rural Livelihoods Mission for providing a platform to her and other Self Help Group women to do something of her own. Sabitri Murmu’s journey showcases the potential of rural women to rise above socio-economic challenges. Her dedication and hard work have not only enhanced her financial status but also inspired many women in the community to pursue similar paths of empowerment.
