Lakhpati Didi Journey
Smt. Amita Rawat, hailing from Khaladi village in the Purola block of Uttarkashi district, is a proud Lakhpati Didi, exemplifying resilience and determination. She is a valued member of the Jaagmata Self Help Group, where her story serves as a testament to how community support can transform lives.
Her journey began amidst financial instability worsened by her husband’s health issues, which they struggled to afford. Joining the Jaagmata Self Help Group proved pivotal as she discovered hand crafting and received essential training facilitated by the group and the Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihood Mission (USRLM). This empowered her to start her own hand crafting business, initially supported by a Rs. 20,000/- loan. Through her dedication to hand crafting, alongside cultivating Silbate ka loon and vegetables on her land, Her monthly income has risen from Rs. 9,000/- to Rs. 10,000/-. Her journey underscores the transformative impact of community solidarity and self-reliance in overcoming challenges. Beyond Khaladi village, her success story has resonated nationally, celebrated at platforms like the SARAS Aajeevika Mela.
