Anjana Barman, a member of “Mahila Self Help Group” quickly engaged in various income-generating activities. In 2018, Mrs. Barman took a significant step by securing Rs. 50,000 from her Self Help Group to purchase hand-operated weaving equipment, launching her enterprise focused on Assamese traditional attire. Her products quickly gained popularity in her village and among her friends. That same year, she expanded her operations with a Rs. 1.5 Lakh bank loan to acquire a Jacquard machine, increasing her production capacity.
Today, she operates her enterprise “Jiban Jyoti Bowakota Utpadak Got” with nine Jacquard machines and one Drum machine, employing four Self Help Group members. Her products are sold in both local and urban markets, earning her an annual income of Rs. 2,40,000. Additionally, Mrs. Barman diversifies her income with backyard poultry farming, generating Rs. 20,000 per year, and arecanut farming, which brings in Rs. 25,000 annually.
This entrepreneurial success story not only highlights her financial achievements but also stands as a testament to women’s empowerment through Self Help Group involvement.
