Lakhpati Didi Journey
Anupama Thakuria, a housewife with very few resources and low income, began her journey as a member of the Buraghoian Self Help Group. Despite her ambition and determination, she faced financial constraints that prevented her from starting any livelihood activity. However, after participating in a livestock training organized by the Self Help Group, she learned about layer poultry farming. Encouraged by this knowledge, she launched her own poultry business in 2021.
She invested Rs. 1 lakh from various sources, including the Revolving Fund, Community Investment Fund, and her personal savings, to purchase 50 layer hens. Her venture proved successful, and she gradually expanded her farm. Two years later, she secured a loan of approximately Rs. 4 lakh through her Self Help Group, allowing her to further expand her farm. With a capacity for nearly 800 hens and a daily egg production of 750 eggs, she not only sells her eggs in the local market but also contributes to the nutritional well-being of her village. Her determination, perseverance, and entrepreneurial spirit have led to a monthly income of Rs.15,000/-.
