She joined a Self-Help Group to set her on a path that would transform her life and the lives of her family members. Aparna’s first significant step was when she borrowed Rs. 2,000 from the Group to start a small poultry farm.
The success of this venture boosted her confidence, enabling her to repay the loan with the profits earned. Encouraged by this initial success, she took a loan of Rs. 10,000 to invest in a small fishery. The income generated from this venture provided a solid foundation for further investments. Later, she borrowed Rs. 1 lakh to expand her poultry business, which again proved to be highly profitable. This time, with the profits from her expanded poultry farm. The following year, she diversified her activities by borrowing Rs. 50,000 to invest in goatery and piggery. The income from these ventures, combined with another loan of Rs. 2 lakh expands her fishery business. Her story is a powerful testament to the transformative potential of financial empowerment and self-help initiatives. From a position of financial instability and limited opportunities, she has built a successful and sustainable livelihood for her family.
