Smt. Asha Devi, a resident of Dhakara village in the Purola block of Uttarkashi district, is a shining example of determination and success.
In an environment where women were traditionally confined to their homes. The turning point came when she joined the group and learned about making handmade cardigans, juices, jams, and chutneys. She received training and participated in events like the Saras Mela at Dehradun and Rudrapur, where she remarkably sold her various products. This economic pathway led to significant milestones in her career. At Dehradun and Rudrapur, she joined about 200 – 250 Self Help Group women from across the country, showcasing their skillfully curated products and narrating their tales of success, empowerment, and prosperity.
The proud Lakhpati Didi is earning a monthly income of approximately Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. ₹12,000/-
The income generated from her various activities has significantly improved her family’s economic condition. Her story, supported by the Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihood Mission, is a testament to the power of collective effort and self-reliance.
