Boby Borah, from Jagigaon village under Jagibhakatgaon Gaon Panchayat in Mayong Development Block, is an exemplary woman who transformed her life from poverty to becoming a successful businesswoman. Her family faced significant financial difficulties when her husband lost his job at Jagiroad Paper Mill, which was their primary source of income.
Boby had been involved in broiler farming since 2007, starting with just 50 chicks. Motivated by the support from the Self Help Group, which provided an Revolving Fund amount of Rs. 25,000 and a Community Investment Fund amount of Rs. 50,000, she ventured into a new business making traditional Pitha and Laru. She began preparing various kinds of food products and sold them in shops across Morigaon district, where they quickly gained popularity.
Her products are sold locally in Morigaon, Jagiroad, and Guwahati. She regularly receives orders for special occasions and from different departments.
She is self-sufficient now and earns a profit of Rs. 25,000-30,000 per month.
