Lakhpati Didi Journey
Mrs. Deepa Devi, now known as Lakhpati Didi, was once a woman farmer from the village of Gandasu in the Nandanagar block of Chamoli district. Her journey towards prosperity began when she joined the Durga Maa Self Help Group, formed under the National Rural Development Mission in her village. The group was educated about the “Panchsutra” and decided to hold weekly meetings. This marked the beginning of a transformative journey for Mrs. Deepa Devi and her group members. She took a loan of Rs. 10,000/- from the group’s RF funds. With this amount, she bought a juicer machine and started producing pickles. By staying at home, she managed to extract juice from seasonal fruits, produce pickles, and jams, and sell them in the local market. This endeavor earned her a monthly savings of Rs. 8,500/- to Rs. 9,000/- and yearly turnover is about Rs. 1.5 to 2.0 lakh. The success of her venture not only provided her with financial stability but also boosted her social standing and self-confidence.
