Before joining the Group, Heera Mani Nagar worked as an agricultural labourer. With the financial burden growing, Heera Mani looked for opportunities to improve her family’s situation.
After joining the Group, Heera Mani received financial literacy training and took her first loan to open a multi-purpose store, named “Aajeevika Rural Mart,” which sold various goods, including items made by other Group members. The Group helped her secure a loan of Rs. 1 lakh under a rural scheme, allowing her to start her store with a solid foundation. Initially, sales were slow, and heera struggled to make the business profitable. But with perseverance, she gradually expanded her inventory and attracted more customers.
In addition to the store, She received training in tailoring, which enabled her to start offering tailoring services from her home. She began making and selling garments, which added an extra source of income. Over the time, her store and tailoring business flourished, providing her with a stable monthly income of Rs. 15,000 per month. Today, She manages her store successfully and is an inspiring figure in her village, showing how Self Help Group membership can lead to financial independence.
