Mrs. K. Ananthi, through her strong determination and support from the Puducherry State Rural Livelihood Mission, succeeded in creating a tailoring enterprise for herself. Her tailoring and Aarai work have not only helped her increase her household income but have also employed other people in the village. With the support of NRLM, she approached the non-farm livelihood CRP of the respective village to get a loan to start the tailoring shop. She got a loan amount of Rs. 50,000 through CIF under the NRLM scheme, Rs. 40,000 as seed capital from PMFME, and her own investment of Rs. 50,000. She started her own enterprise in the name of Valli Tailoring Unit and earned an amount of Rs 8,000 per month, and also her enterprise got registered. Apart from the tailoring unit, she was involved in Papad Production. She also owned a readymade ladies’ dress. With well-paying, dignified jobs opted for by her, as a proud woman, she now enjoys a vastly better lifestyle and works in a professional way.
