Kajali Kurmi, a resident of the interior village of Tengagaon, evolved from a humble housewife to a thriving entrepreneur after participating in Pashu Pathsala and thematic training in Goatery and Piggery provided by Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission. Today, she manages a diversified agribusiness that includes piggery, goatery, horticulture, and poultry, with a strong market presence in Talap Bazar, earning approximately Rs. 1,40,000 annually.
She received two piggeries under MGNREGA, which laid the groundwork for expanding her pig farming. Alongside her livestock businesses, Kajali cultivates vegetables using homemade manure, which she consumes and sells at nearby markets, obtaining good prices. she secured a Self Help Group bank loan of Rs. 80,000, enabling her to establish a grocery shop at her residence. Together with her husband, they efficiently manage the shop, generating an impressive annual income of Rs. 1,20,000 from their diversified sources of livelihood.
Kajali proudly calls herself a ‘Lakhpati Mahila’, symbolizing her journey from a simple homemaker to a successful and empowered woman entrepreneur.
