Lakhpati Didi Journey

Smt. Khetoli Awomi, a mother of two from Henito village in Nagaland’s Dimapur district, has redefined her identity through determination and resourcefulness. Her life transformed when she joined the Kupukini Self-Help Group under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), stepping out of her role as a stay-at-home wife to address her family’s financial struggles. Khetoli began her entrepreneurial journey with a small-scale baking business. A Rs. 50,000 bank loan through her Village Level Organization (VLO) enabled her to invest in baking equipment like an oven and blender. Her business, Kheto’s Cake Art, gained recognition through Instagram and national exposure at the SARAS fair in Goa. Earning approximately Rs. 1.5 lakhs annually, she has also trained 25 women in baking, fostering empowerment in her community. Her ambitions extended beyond baking. After passing the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) certification, she became a BC Sakhi and a certified business correspondent agent with IDFC First Bank, facilitating banking services in her village. Additionally, as a Financial Literacy Community Resource Person (FLCRP), she has educated women in five villages on savings and financial management.
