Smt. Manisha Kushwaha, a resident of Khorvatola village in Sidhi district, Madhya Pradesh, is a shining example of how self-help groups can transform lives. When she joined the Laxmi Self-Help Group under the Parwati Cluster Level Federation, she was seeking financial stability and a renewed sense of confidence. Today she is a thriving entrepreneur and community leader, known for her work in organic farming, commercial vegetable production, and her innovative use of drone technology. She embraced organic farming, focusing on chemical-free cultivation of vegetables and turmeric. This approach not only improved the quality of her produce but also reduced costs. Her leadership as a Krishi Community Resource Person (CRP) brought 150 farmers together to adopt sustainable practices. She further expanded her impact by forming the Pragati Producer Group with 15 members. With a working capital of one lakh and an infrastructure fund of Rs. 50,000, the group successfully ventured into onion procurement, earning Rs. 10,000 in their first season. Through the Namo Drone Yojana, Manisha received a drone, which she now uses to offer agricultural services, adding another stream to her income. Her dedication has elevated her annual earnings to Rs. 1.73 lakhs, significantly improving her family’s quality of life. Manisha’s success has inspired women in her village to join groups and explore new opportunities. She credits the Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission for empowering her to achieve her dreams and foster change in her community.
