Lakhpati Didi Journey:
Manju and her husband were involved in agricultural activities before associating with her self-help group. However, due to the usage of traditional practices, the yield of the farmland was very low which could only suffice her family’s needs. The agricultural work could hardly yield enough to meet the expenses of her family.
Meanwhile, Manju joined Lakshya Self Help Group and got the opportunity to venture into new livelihood activities. Earlier, it was very difficult for her to start a business but now after getting credit from the group, She opened an electronics shop which is very helpful in supporting her family’s needs and has also helped her to become a Lakhpati Didi.
Her shop has a yearly turnover of Rs. 5 lakhs now. Also, after joining the Self Help Group, we came to learn about the various other activities such as polyhouse and vermicompost production which they produce in their farmland and often sell when it is overproduced. Her monthly income is around Rs. 35,000 to 40,000.
