Through the efforts of Jeevika Bihar, thousands of women have started their own businesses, writing a new chapter of social and economic self-reliance. Munni Kumari is one such woman who joined a self-help group and managed to become self-reliant.
She received Rs. 35,000 as assistance under the Sustainable Livelihood Plan. Using this assistance, She opened a small grocery shop, earning about Rs. 5,000 per month then she took a 10-day training in agarbatti manufacturing from Jeevika Bihar. After the training, She started Agarbatti manufacturing and never looked back. Additionally, She has provided employment to other women in the group, increasing their income sources.
She sells agarbatti worth Rs. 50,000 to 60,000. After paying for raw materials and labour, she earns around Rs. 10,000 to 12,000 from agarbatti manufacturing and more than Rs. 5,000 from the grocery shop. She earns about Rs. 20,000 per month from all her activities.
