Lakhpati Didi Journey :
Smt. Neelam Devi initially managed her family and livelihood with great difficulty through agriculture. After joining the Rashtriya Gramin Ajeevika Mission scheme, the group members identified opportunities in the field of sewing.
Neelam received training in sewing and subsequently started her sewing activities at a dedicated sewing center. She obtained a loan of Rs. 10,000/- from the Radha Rani Self Help Group to set up her own tailoring shop.
Inspired by the idea of collective farming, she started collaborating with fellow women farmers to cultivate vegetables on their land. Her journey, fuelled by the support of the self-help group, became a shining example of how a modest beginning can lead to a prosperous livelihood. The proud Lakhpati Didi emerged as a beacon of inspiration for other women in her village. Her average monthly income is around Rs.18,000. They are becoming self-employed by engaging in sewing, weaving, creating various products from Pirul (such as Pirul baskets, bouquets and Rakhis) and herbal (organic) colors available for the Holi festival. The local people here are increasing their livelihood by selling their products from agriculture and animal husbandry at good prices in the markets of Dehradun, Mussoorie, and Nainbagh.
