Lakhpati Didi Journey
Panmoni Murmu belongs to Dangardiha village of Jhargram district of West Bengal. She joined Matangini Swam Sahayak Dal Self Help Group in her village. After joining Self Help Group, she takes loan from Self Help Group when required to invest in livelihood. She is a leader of Village Organization as well as a Self Help Group and is also a bio resource product entrepreneur. She has taken up Cash credit as well as Community Investment Fund loan upto Rs. 2.5 lakh to accelerate her bio-resource Centre.
She is also cultivating indigenous paddy, vegetables like chilly, tomato, cabbage, oil seeds and also pursuing fishery activity in one of her ponds. Became technically expert in nursery raising and bio product preparation.
Didi also contributes and manages different health related expenses. She has sold 28 ton of vermicompost and 65 litre of agniasthra which fetched her a total return of 1,70,448 rupees. She expresses her gratitude to State Rural Livelihoods Mission for providing a platform to her and other Self Help Group women to do something of her own. Her journey showcases the potential of rural women to rise above socio-economic challenges.
