Lakhpati Didi Journey
Priyanka Devi, a resident of Ghevdahi village in the Madhubani block of Bettiah district, is a shining example of how determination and innovative farming practices can transform lives. She took a loan of Rs. 20,000 from the Jeevika group to open a small shop, which provided an initial boost to the family’s income. Alongside managing the shop, Priyanka was deeply involved in farming activities, a common occupation in their rural setting.
She attended training on how to prepare organic fertilizer, pesticide and Vermi-composting and apply them in vegetable farming, nursery creation. She personally treated the seeds and established a nursery, which marked the beginning of her journey into organic farming. The initial results were promising, and their monthly income increased to Rs. 12,000.
Her dedication to organic farming not only improved her family’s financial situation but also brought her significant recognition in the community. Her innovative approach to agriculture inspired many other farmers in the village to adopt similar practices, thereby promoting sustainable farming methods.
