Putul Ahir was an ordinary housewife and belonged to a poor family, like millions of such other rural women she had no option but to work as a farm labourer to meet basic needs for the family. Though committed to her work and hard work, living life in such a condition would have been accepted fate, but this was not her destiny. She got inspiration from the campaign about organic farming and joined Parsipoha Mahila Dal Self Help Group.

She has taken a loan from Self Help Group when required to invest in livelihood activities. She received training and is practising organic agriculture and pisciculture.

She participated in training for improvement of farming of paddy and vegetables using organic fertilizer to reduce the input cost. The Results of which increased her income and decreased her expenditure. She became technically sound in regenerative organic farming-agriculture and pisciculture. Currently her monthly income is Rs.10,000/-. Her determination and support can lead to independence and a new identity for women in her village.
