Lakhpati Didi Journey
Queen Chaliha Deka, a mother of two from Bihdia Jajikona Block of Kamrup District, Assam, began her Journey with a Self Help Group in 2014.
With an initial investment of Rs. 60,000, sourced from Revolving Fund, Community Investment Fund, and her own savings, she purchased a Holstein Friesian cow and launched her dairy business. This endeavor quickly paid off, as she started earning Rs. 11,500 per month from selling milk. Her cattle count soon grew to three, and her income increased accordingly.
In 2019, Queen embarked on another venture by transforming her home kitchen into RQ Enterprise, a thriving bakery. She began baking cakes in various flavors and designs, catering to customer demands through her online platforms. This new business boosted her confidence, leading her to take a significant step in 2022 by securing a bank loan of Rs. 2 Lakh through her Self Help Group. She invested this loan in setting up a restaurant, further expanding RQ Enterprise from a home-based bakery into a full-scale dining establishment. Today, Queen earns a monthly income of Rs. 25,000, a testament to the empowerment facilitated by Self Help Group and National Rural Livelihood Mission.
