Radhikaben Umeshbhai, hailing from Vandaliya in Amreli district of Gujarat. She initiated the Jai Chamunda Aajivika Juth Self Help Group in 2018, alongside nine other women. In an environment where women were traditionally confined to their homes, they adapted by working from their residences and earning a daily income.
Before Joining Self Help Group, her family grappled with financial instability, compounded by her brother’s health issues which they could not afford to treat. The turning point came when she joined Self Help Group and came to know about jewellery marking and got trained by this business. She enabled herself to participate in an exhibition in odisha where she remarkably sold jewellery worth 70,000 rupees which marked the beginning of her journey in various state-level exhibitions.
This economic pathway led to significant milestones for her career. She was able to save considerably, fulfilling her aspiration of building a home for family. Her story is one among many that have been highlighted and celebrated in events like the SARAS Aajeevika Mela. International Trade Fair held in Pragati Maidan Delhi, she joined about 300 Self Help Group women from across the country, showcasing their skillfully curated products and narrating their tale of success, empowerment and prosperity.
