Lakhpati Didi Journey
Sangita Padi’s journey of community empowerment began, when she formed Rose Self Help Group with ten other women from her village. She has been instrumental in educating her community about the benefits of Self-Help Groups.
She fully dedicate herself to cadre activities, due to time constraints and salary delays. Her efforts have significantly impacted her community, persuading over 100 mothers to join Self-Help Groups, leading to the formation of 15 Self Help Groups in her area. She has participated in training sessions for soap and detergent making, and pickle making, organized by Block Officials.
Following her training, she motivated her group to start a small home-based enterprise under the name Rose Self Help Group, specializing in making pickles from local ingredients like Elephant Apple, Bamboo Shoots, Chicken, Fish, and Pork, which recently received its FSSAI certificate.
She also runs a small individual enterprise from home, creating organic soaps, crochet bags, purses, and decorative items. Her diversified ventures now bring in a monthly income of around INR 20 ,000, significantly improving her family’s life. She and her group’s products were featured at the recent SARAS MELA in Itanagar, showcasing the potential of local crafts.
