Lakhpati Didi Journey
Priyanka Bhowmik’s journey from a lineage of fishermen to the role of a Krishi Sakhi is truly inspiring. Growing up, she actively participated in her family’s fishing activities, assisting her father and brother with their daily catches. Determined to chart her own path, Priyanka took two consecutive loans, each amounting to Rs. 25,000, to establish her fishery and goat rearing ventures.
Recognizing the importance of knowledge, she underwent specialized training in the creation of organic pesticides and fertilizers provided by the local block. Additionally, she expanded her business operations by acquiring a goods vehicle through a loan from the Self-Help Group (SHG), enabling her husband to transport harvested fish to various markets efficiently.
Priyanka’s entrepreneurial spirit extended beyond her personal ventures; she also supplied fingerlings to fellow fishery farmers in her village. This multi-faceted approach not only realized her dream but also yielded tangible results, including securing education for her children, ensuring a healthy family life, and achieving a significant increase in monthly income, which now stands at Rs. 25,000. Priyanka Bhowmik stands as a testament to the transformative power of determination, entrepreneurship, and sustainable agricultural practices.
