Lakhpati Didi Journey
With the guidance and support of Haryana State Rural Livelihoods Mission staff, Swarn Kaur applied for a loan and received Rs. 10,00,000 under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). She used this funding to purchase 12 tailoring machines, which allowed her to start a school uniform stitching business in Bakshiwala, selling the uniforms in Pinjore.
Beyond her own success, Swarn Kaur has become a beacon of empowerment for her community. She has provided livelihood opportunities to fifteen additional households from her Self Help Group members at her store, paying a collective salary of Rs. 1,20,000/- per month. Her business generates a personal income of Rs. 45,000/- per month.
Swarn Kaur’s journey is a testament to the power of leadership, community support, and the opportunities provided through SHGs and government schemes. Her efforts have not only uplifted her own family but have also created a ripple effect of empowerment in her community.
