Lakhpati Didi Journey
Before engaging with Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission , Tulika Gogoi Swargiary was a housewife with dreams of improving her family’s economic status. She joined a Self Help Group in her village, which soon became eligible for Revolving Fund and Community Investment Fund. She attended training sessions on mushroom cultivation and pickle making at various institutions, including RSETI, which broadened her perspective beyond traditional livelihood activities.
Her ventured into pickle making using seasonal vegetables and fruits and explored traditional pitha ladoo making. Her participation in a mushroom cultivation training at the Mushroom Development Foundation marked a turning point. She started mushroom cultivation with an initial setup of 100 bags.
She expanded her mushroom operation to 1,000 bags with a Mudra loan of Rs. 1 Lakh. Her income significantly increased, ranging from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000 per month from mushrooms alone. Now, she is the president of DIMCHA Cooperative Society, supporting Self Help Group members in mushroom production, and creates value-added products like mushroom chocolates, dry mushrooms, juices, and biscuits. She actively participates in Melas and exhibitions across and outside Assam, showcasing her products.
