Viketuno Edith Rutsa, a mother of three from Sechu Zubza Village, Kohima District, has transformed her life remarkably since joining the Sede Self Help Group in 2019. Initially a daily wage labourer, Rutsa ventured into entrepreneurship by starting a small grocery shop with a loan of Rs. 75,000 from her Self Help Group. Her entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop there. she expanded her business ventures by obtaining a loan and later a significant loan from the State Bank of India to construct a Kutcha house for a Girls Hostel, further diversifying her income sources with a thrift store and flower cultivation. Additionally, she started piggery farming, rearing 17 pigs with a loan from Community Investment fund. Despite the challenges of being the sole breadwinner and the pressures of balancing life and multiple businesses. This ventures now bring in a monthly income of around Rs. 10,000, significantly improving her family’s life.
Rutsa’s resilience and hard work led to her recognition and award as the most successful financial credit linkage during the International Women’s Day 2024 celebration, a testament to her remarkable journey and the impactful support from the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM).
