കോഡ് ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ താമസിക്കുന്ന ഷിലു കുൻവർ റാം റഹീം ഗ്രൂപ്പിൽ ചേർന്നു. സ്വാശ്രയ ഗ്രൂപ്പിൽ ചേരുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് അവരുടെ കുടുംബം സാമ്പത്തിക ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകൾ നേരിട്ടിരുന്നു, അവരുടെ സാഹചര്യം മാറ്റാൻ അവർ ദൃഢനിശ്ചയം ചെയ്തു. സ്വാശ്രയ ഗ്രൂപ്പിന്റെ കഴിവിൽ നിന്ന് പ്രചോദനം ഉൾക്കൊണ്ട് വിഷ്ണു പ്രാദേശിക സ്ത്രീകളെ ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂട്ടി ഒരു ഗ്രൂപ്പ് ആരംഭിച്ചു. കാലക്രമേണ, ഡിസൈനർ പ്ലേറ്റുകൾ, മെഴുകുതിരികൾ, ധൂപവർഗ്ഗങ്ങൾ, വീട്ടുപകരണങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ നിർമ്മിക്കൽ തുടങ്ങിയ വിവിധ കരകൗശല വസ്തുക്കളിൽ പരിശീലനം നേടാൻ ഷിലുവിനെയും മറ്റ് സ്ത്രീകളെയും ഗ്രൂപ്പ് സഹായിച്ചു.
Vishnu took out several loans to buy materials for these crafts, and with each new skill she learned, her business expanded. The women in her Group collaborated to produce these items and sold them at local markets and fairs. The Self Help Group also helped them participate in state-level exhibitions where they could showcase their products.
Her dedication and leadership abilities have made her an influential figure in her village. She now earns a steady income of Rs. 16,000 per month and has helped many other women become self-reliant.
