Lakhpati Didi Journey
Parbati Mahoto’s journey began with her affiliation with the Self-Help Group (SHG), a pivotal step that provided her with essential financial assistance and technical knowledge, facilitated by the Sangha (Cluster) and BMMU team. Despite possessing 132 decimals of land with minimal irrigation facilities, she encountered challenges in managing and initiating activities, hampered by a lack of knowledge and funds.
In a strategic move to overcome these obstacles, Parbati took two consecutive loans, each amounting to Rs. 24,000, to embark on livestock rearing and agricultural activities. With the support of the local Civil Society Organization (CSO), she received the necessary guidance and expertise, becoming proficient in both agriculture farming and animal husbandry.
The transformative effects of her efforts materialized in various forms, including access to education for her children, a healthier family life, and a substantial increase in overall family income. Currently, Parbati Mahoto enjoys a monthly average income of Rs. 11,000, a testament to her resilience, strategic planning, and the empowering impact of SHG involvement on her agricultural pursuits.
