Lakhpati Didi Journey
Pelenbala Mahato’s journey is a testament to empowerment through the Self-Help Group (SHG), where she not only acquired the ability to explore various livelihood activities but also became a source of knowledge for other women farmers. Training received from the block and NGO in agriculture, livestock, fishery, gender, and SHG membership elevated her expertise, leading her to become a trainer in the same domains. With a loan of Rs. 24,000, Pelenbala expanded her cultivation area, acquired BYP and goats, and initiated pisciculture last year.
Embracing regenerative agriculture with the Sustainable Agriculture & Rural Development (SARP) technology, she incorporated organic inputs, established a mango orchard, adopted scientific livestock rearing and gained technical knowledge in pisciculture. Overcoming societal stereotypes, Pelenbala honed her leadership skills, not only enhancing her own capabilities but also imparting knowledge to fellow women farmers. Despite challenges, her monthly income has surged to Rs. 12,000, marking her success in sustainable and diversified livelihoods.
