Before joining the self-help group, Rumali used to work as a labourer on others’ farms and struggled to support her family.
Rumali is now running a general store in her village. She opened the store by taking a Rs. 10,000 loan from her Group. She took another loan of Rs. 10,000 and started her manihari (general) shop. This helped her support her family and let her repay the loan gradually while reinvesting in her business to grow it.
She significantly improved their family’s financial situation, earning around Rs. 12,000 per month from the general store and manihari work. With the support of the Livelihood Mission, She has become a source of inspiration for other Group members and poor women in her village.
