Lakhpati Didi Journey
Vijay Bhardwaj joined the Aarti Self Help Group Kamah in Bajga village. She took training on Agro Ecological Practices, Natural Farming and rearing of Livestock Management in convergence with the Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, district Sirmaur. She took training on soil testing in Shimla and training on the concept of Lakhpati Didi and became a Community Auditor.
After training she took a loan amounting to Rs. 50,000 from Cluster level Federation to start the cultivation of Ginger, Garlic, Turmeric and she has earned on average more than 1.50 Lakh net income per season through the selling of ginger, garlic and turmeric. Before the training, she cultivated the vegetables for self-consumption only and she was not selling milk due to the lack of knowledge of Agriculture and Livestock Management. She is also doing nonfarm activities tailoring, pickle and koyla making. Through the nonfarm activities and other activities, she is earning more than Rs. 30,000 per month.
