Girija Prajapati’s story is one of resilience and transformation. Born into a poor backward caste family, Girija’s educational journey was cut short due to financial constraints.
Joining the National Rural Livelihood Mission marked a turning point for Girija. She began working as a Community Resource Person (CRP), forming 40 self-help groups in the villages of Dodhi and Khadiyat. She received training in various areas including agriculture, animal husbandry, bookkeeping, social mobilization. Additionally, as a Bank Sakhi in Khadiyat, she managed banking transactions which further supported her livelihood.
Today, Girija earns over Rs. 12,000 per month from sewing, training as a master trainer, and her role as a Bank Sakhi. She attributes her success to the Livelihood Mission and remains committed to uplifting poor families from poverty.
