Mrs Merangkala comes from Mokokchung District of Nagaland. She comes from a farmer family and both she and her husband grow several varieties of vegetables, including exotic vegetables and off season cucumber farming.
She has also been felicitated with several awards. She was awarded the district’s best farmer by the District Agricultural Office, Mokokchung and ATMA in 2018 and was also recognised as a progressive farmer and facilitator for Vegetable Farmers during Covid 19 Pandemic in the year 2021.
Additionally, she has also been working as a Bank Sakhi at Canara Bank, Mokokchung Branch, under NRLM since 2021. Her role as a Bank Sakhi helps her earn an additional income of 4800 rupees every month.
She earns an annual income of Rs. 3 to 3.5 Lakh per annum from her vegetable business and bank correspondent job.
