Lakhpati Didi Journey
Palakurthi Padma joined the group with the hope of getting a bank loan to start a small business. She was impressed by the group’s supportive and empowering environment, which encouraged members to take control of their lives and improve their economic status.
She received a bank loan of Rs. 50,000 through the group to start a dairy business. The loan was repaid with interest, and she reinvested the profits to expand her business.
During the pandemic, She faced many challenges as the dairy business was not doing well. However, with the help of the SHG, she was able to get a loan of Rs. 1.5 lakh to start a bakery shop. The shop was set up on the side of the road, and with her hard work and dedication, it has now become a successful business, generating a monthly income of Rs. 20,000.
Her husband, who used to work as a laborer, now runs the dairy, and together they run the Kirana store, agriculture business, and bakery shop. Their income has increased, and they have been able to provide a better life for their children.
Her journey from being a beedi worker to a successful entrepreneur is truly inspiring.
