Lakhpati Didi Journey

Rinki Devi, hailing from Parev village in Bihta block, Patna district, comes from a lineage deeply rooted in the tradition of crafting brass utensils. Rinki’s life took a pivotal turn when she became a member of the Jeevika self-help group. Attending regular meetings, she accessed a bank loan through Jeevika that helped her clear debts. With additional funding from the Village Organization, Rinki revived her family’s ancestral craft of brass utensil making. Starting modestly with 300 kg of raw materials, her enterprise gradually flourished, now producing and selling 1 ton of goods monthly. The journey wasn’t without challenges. Rinki navigated family responsibilities alongside her entrepreneurial pursuits, serving as the secretary of Udaan Jeevika Mahila Gram Sangathan and Jai Hind CLF.

These funds bolstered her business expansion efforts, positioning her for growth beyond local markets. Currently, Rinki’s business operations generate monthly revenues of Rs. 7 to 8 lakh, supplying local shopkeepers and wholesalers with meticulously crafted brass products. Her production processes, which include using raw materials from nearby manufacturers and employing advanced peeling, hammering, and polishing techniques, ensure quality and profitability. Rinki Didi’s success story not only showcases her journey from adversity to entrepreneurship but also underscores the transformative impact of empowerment initiatives like Jeevika. Her proactive approach to exploring new markets and securing additional funding reflects her ambition to further expand her enterprise.
