After getting married, She became part of a joint family and lived with other people under one roof. She was not familiar with agricultural work and even though she faced many difficulties at home. She couldn’t work outside as a laborer.
She joined the Self Help group and took the responsibility of maintaining the group’s records.
When she got the opportunity to work as a Cadre, with the additional income and Startup Village Entrepreneurship Program (SVEP) loan, she purchased a sugarcane crusher and started making jaggery from the sugarcane they cultivated on their land.
The business grew well and she took an additional loan from Sreenidhi scheme to scale up her jaggery business. She also took 3 acres of land on lease to cultivate sugarcane for her business. Now she is earning around Rs. 35,000 per month.
Today, she has multiple sources of income, including income from renting their community marriage hall and giving training as a LokOS trainer to other Self Help Group members.
