M. Rajalakshmi, is a member of the Semparuthi Self-Help Group in Sethunarayanapuram Panchayat in Virudhunagar District. She has been an active member of Self Help Group her village . Through her consistent participation in Self Help Group activities, she developed strong financial management and entrepreneurial skills.
Ms. Rajalakshmi established a bakery unit in her village. With guidance and support from the Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission, she identified bakery production as a viable livelihood opportunity due to local demand. Her enterprise focuses on the preparation and sale of bakery products such as cakes, biscuits, and snacks.
She received a loan support of ₹5 Lakh through Self Help Group- linked credit and institutional finance. The financial assistance enabled her to procure modern bakery equipment, raw materials, and improve production capacity.
Through her business, She earns a monthly income of approximately
Rs. 35,000 – 40,000 and annual income range 3.5 to 4.5.
The bakery unit has created sustainable employment opportunities for five other group members from her locality
Her success has significantly improved her family’s standard of living and inspired other members in the block to start income-generating activities.
