Sheeja became a member of the Self Help Group when she was facing a lot of financial difficulties. In addition to the financial support from Self Help Group, she was able to acquire technical knowledge through training. Mushroom Cultivation training was given during that occasion. Then her enterprise was registered as a unit and started functioning with the help of a bank loan. The initiative was expanded with the addition of a National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) subsidy. Those who started farming with 100 beds are now farming with more than 500 beds. Today, Sheeja is able to market the product under the name of Crown mushroom and earn income. Her success story is a testament to the empowerment facilitated by Self Help Group. Because of it, she has an annual income of Rs. 2,20,000. This is a reflection of their determination and entrepreneurial spirit.
