Pooja Lal is a resident of village Mohal in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh. She completed her secondary education and became a member of the Jyoti Self Help Group on 09 September, 2018. Pooja took on the role of a Banking Sakhi (BC Sakhi) in 2020, associating with the Chhattisgarh State Grameen Bank, Mohala. Her primary responsibilities include depositing cash, cash withdrawals, fund transfers, and assisting villagers with financial transactions such as MGNREGA payments, pensions, Jan Dhan accounts, and Kisan Samman Nidhi, contributing to the success of various government schemes.
As a Banking Sakhi, she has executed transactions worth Rs. 8 crore to date, with current transactions ranging from 2 to 3 lakh monthly. She earns a commission between Rs. 8,000/- and Rs. 10000/-, which has significantly improved her financial condition and social status. During the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic, she continued to provide essential services to her community, ensuring no shortage of cash or disruption in regular monetary transactions.
